Sundays are my Favorite

This is the LDS church here on the island. It is such a beautiful building! It is also really neat because the members here help build it, so it makes it that much more amazing.

Drew was thinking i was crazy taking so many picutures of the church. He had to be in them though he is my only model!

Carts Fun Run!!!!

Lookin' Good!

Brian, Rick, and Drew

This is where one stop we made while were where driving the carts. It was so pretty! I loved being out of the city for a while. It was really cool to see the pass of ocean from the other side of the Island.
This is the bus that Drew Drives! Talk about a flash back to the 60's! I drive a bus that is a little bit newer because it has power steering! haha Pretty sweet though right?
The bus ride back from Carts was really fun. We put the ipod earphones to the boom mike so we could listen to music on the way back.

Where we live...

This is where we live! Small little room where we pull 2 twin beds together and top it off with our sleeping bag. It actually isn't bad! I have decided that the simple life is the way to go. You really don't need all the clothes and fancy things. If you got each other that is all you need:)

This is a fun sign that sits right in the middle of the city. We were walking home one night, and i thought it was a good picture opportunity.

The Salmon Cannery

A couple of Days ago our company took us out to the Salmon Cannery. The view from there was amazing!!! It was really fun because we got to walk by waterfalls and through trails with thick trees surrounding us.

Baseball in the Driveway

This week we all got together and played some baseball in the driveway of our house. It was so fun! Instead of using a bat we used a stick and for our bases we had road cones from our training on the buses.

Beautiful Ketchikan

I took this picture from our bedroom window! I love to watch the huge ships come in. We think we have to best view of the Island.

Here are some pictures of beautiful Ketchikan!

Ward Lake

Last Sunday we had a picnic for our work at Ward Lake! It was super fun because we don't have a vehicle we don't get to go to far away from the city. It was such a pretty place and it was also nice to get some free food! They rented some canoes for us to use so Drew and I strapped on life jackets and went on an adventure across the lake. Drew drank a coke in honor of Kim... i was worried the whole time that it was going to spill all over me while we were paddling. We saw a ton of bald eagles but never saw any bears so don't worry Mom! haha

Sunday, May 3rd 2009

Well today was one of the crazy days. Drew and I got up in the morning and hurried and got ready for church. We have to walk to church because we have no car and no way other way to get there. We gave ourselves plenty of time but still ended up getting lost and we were 20 minutes late for church! About 10 percent of the streets are stairs and sidewalks (no motor vehicles allowed). So the street we were supposed to go to was a stairway street and we walked about a mile extra before we found the church house. There are a lot of people that are members here (well more people then i had expected.) The church house is amazing. The local members built the church which shows me there is no doubt these people believe strongly in this gospel.
Later on today we went for walk around the back roads to see some of the houses that are nestled on the mountain side. It was gorgeous today because it was semi- raining which led to lower clouds that blanketed the tips of the mountains. Everything is so green here and i couldn't stop taking pictures. I will have pictures posted soon but i forgot my cord to import my pictures from my camera. We ended up finding a cool trail that gave us a beautiful view of the city of Ketchikan. I'll tell you what, this is one pretty place.
